Goodwill Find
*Picture taken at Goodwill
This is my beloved yellow Drexel Heritage cabinet I bought at the Goodwill shop for a song. I bought it several months ago, but I never got a chance to blog about it. I love it so much. The craftsmanship is quite lovely. I can't wait to get my room together so I will feel more comfortable in it. I bought it because I needed something to put my clothing and accessories in it. I want my room to look like boutique. *sigh* Someday!

How was your weekend?
*Photo: FIRST pop noir flyer (featuring Black Heart Bunny March 22, 2007)
Friday:
I went to to the pre-portion of Pop Noir (my friends were doing hair for the fashion show.) It was the one year anniversary. MY CLOTHING WAS FEATURED AT THE VERY FIRST POP NOIR! ( I have fond memories. It was such a cool nite. It was packed! It was so amazing! Everyone loved my clothes! :D)
I talked to May (AKA MAYSTAR) and it was neat sharing our goals. It was interesting to reflect on how much I've accomplished in a year and what I hoped to accomplish. I met the delightful young lady who contributes to a local university's publication. I'm 99% sure Black Heart Bunny is getting a small blip in the publication. She is just the sweetest girl, so charming.
Saturday:
Woke up at dawn to get a bunch of printing done at school before starting my shift. Completed 2 screens at 50 promotional tote bags (which is the equivalent of 100 one color shirts, because I print both sides.) Then i put in 5.5 hours of work at the school. Total of 11 hours of hard physical labor! Totally looking forward to the new designs I'm going to churn out next weekend! YAY!

World is my oyster!

I sold my first item on Etsy today!
Don't forget the coupon ;)
If you are new to etsy my biggest advice to list often and check out othe sellers and the forums.
My goals for etsy.
- I want to become an entire lifestyle boutique selling a large range of items: clothing items and home items.
- To put together gift sets that include gift item, gift bag, and gift card (all made by me!)
- Make coupons to put in orders to encourage repeat costemers!
- Make more free gifts like buttons (pins) and stickers to send with purchases
- Make email and postcard offers a few times a year, so I won't get annoying ;)

I ACTUALLY do have skills
know its hard to believe but I actually can sew and design clothes. Whatever. I started this dress when I first started fashion school (a million years ago) and didn't finish it because I couldn't afford this special trim i wanted for starts because it is a bit pricey. I finally bought the trim a ages ago but still didn't finish it but this month is the month, I'm telling you! I also have a bunch of new designs I am going to churn out for BHB.
I was very discouraged when I first started fashion school because I didn't know how was I was going to make it as a fashion designer. Plus I had to overcome a lot things including depression. However now I feel so much more confident.
So I've decided to just go for it, you know?
So anyway, THIS dress was inspired by female artist whose name I can't recall right now. This is the dress that inspired me to screen print! how I ended with a bunch of fuzzy weird animal designs was the result of trying to cheer myself up.
But I digress. This dress was hand screen printed with textile inks (I had to cut out a stencil out contact paper! This was before I learned proper printing) of with red black and gold, then i went over it with embroidery. The strands I left out are intentional cut out bodice shapes and embroidered them on like appliques. the top and bottom are left unhemmed. all i have to do is but in the zipper and the straps and I'm done! this dress means a lot to me. i don't know if I'll ever sell it, but ... maybe.
I have other things I need to finish and other tings I've done I may post later.
Oh yeah, and this!

- Spend more time taking pictures and generally hanging out in Golden Gate Park
- Get some boutiques to carry my clothing (http://www.blackheartbunny.com/)
- Spend more time going to places Aida tells me to go with her too
- Go to an El Salvadorean Bakery (I miss the cookies!)
- Save money to buy more vintage scores!

Lou Doillon
This is a slightly older post from the Who What Wear Daily blog, but I just couldn't stop thinking about it. Just to set the record straight I'm not crazy about the picture they picked of Lou Doillion (Jane Birkin's daughter) she looks like a bag lady here. However, I love the picks and I think they make fantastic "quirky" or unexpected basics. The reason I kept coming back to this post is because I own items very similar to the ones they picked (of course I purchased my picks for much, much lower prices over all.)
1. Don't underestimate "cool" colored or quirky sunglasses. You don't necessarily need to get some classic Ray-Bans (although they are pretty sweet!) I raided my grandma's and mom's vintage stash and got some cutie designer ones on sale and some cute cheap ones. Buy at least one good pair you love that goes with your style, but sometimes you need variety if your wardrobe is eclectic.
2. I love super girlie vintage and vintage inspired dresses and if they are a killer shade of pink then all the better. I also love rocking the mini dresses. I love my legs. When I am unsure of what to wear if is hard to go wrong with sweet dress. and in the winter I can pair them with leggings and tights. Charcoal or gray ones were so awesome this winter.
3. Don't underestimate brown heels! A lot of people automatically turn to black shoes as their basic go-to shoe. I however find my brown shoes to be much more versatile. Gladiator sandals are awesome, but I only own them in flats. I do however own a fantastic pair of Elie Tahari brown close toe platform slingbacks I got on super sale!!! I love them.
4. Don't underestimate grey skinny jeans. I have a pair of wonder grey Levi jeans I need to alter from straight leg into "skinnies" (but that's for another post.) Nothing has the same weight as grey jeans. Not even black jeans. There is a reason Kate Moss is always seen in a pair of them.
5. Be careful with red lipstick! It can make your teeth look yellow if they aren't super bright white. However if you can rock it. Go for it.
6. Brown bags are rad too. The bag featured in the WWWD post is actually not a bad buy at $375 (for a sweet luxury bag.) I was lucky enough to find a real brown Balenciaga bag for $75! I want to save a black Channel quilted bag (but again for another post!)
7. The allure of the military jacket and the rocket roll vibe. I went crazy buying these up on ebay at at discount when I could back when Marc Jacobs was the only one churning these bad boys out. They look great with fluffy and girlie but not overly ornate dresses. Looks great with grey jeans and brown accessories too.

Stories in Stone
"This is an infrared photograph that was taken in the Cote des Neiges cemetery in Montreal during a strike by the cemetery workers. You can see the tall grass which lends an even more gothic look to the place."
I love her photography. This seller has really beautiful work.

Food Post
Chocolate Cake: I did not make this cake this was a cake my mum bought for everyone on New Years from Extraordinary Desserts a local gourmet bakery.
Lamb Lollipops: My own Recipe! I wish I had taken the picture of one of the lollipops with the bone still on it. But this one the first one I ever made!
Torte: I altered the recipe slightly from Everyday Food cookbook. Ingredients: pastry puff, onions, spinach, chicken apple sausage, and goat cheese.

Etsy Is Frigging Addicting
I'm trying to learn everything I can about it and I look forward putting together a solid store. I'm sorry I can't help it! it's sooooooo addictive! It's like a video game to me know. Which sounds really weird but thats the best way I can describe it.

Good News
1. I passed my state board exam and am now officially a licensed cosmetologist. I am working on branding and an online portfolio and I'll let you know where I will be working!
2. I plan on selling a lot of personal effects and stockpiles of designer and vintage finds on ebay in the next couple of months so I'll keep you posted. My seller name is: blackheartbunny
3. I've always my own website to sell my clothing but in the meantime I've decided to sell my clothes on etsy. http://www.blackheartbunny.com/ now will lead you directly to the "beta" version of my sellers site. It's going to be a lot snazzier and have better pictures, and more stuff but in the meantime, go check out what I have on it now.
