Black Heart Bunny Sneak Peek

Hey look it's me chillaxing at The Office, behind the scenes of Black Heart Bunny photo shoot!

Still anticipating getting back the OFFICIAL photos from Black Heart Bunny's last two photo shoots but I just couldn't wait to debut some of my brand new pieces! Here are some snap shots of just two of the new pieces, some fun pics taken behind the scenes while the official photographer was setting up.

First of all, I revamped the vary popular lace skull print, by making in oversized and putting it on the also very popular black skirt dress style. Everyone loves the cute, fit, versatility and comfort of this dress. Available for $28. this print will also be available on the very popular pima cotton cardigans and a brand new blouse style!

The next design is brand new! I'm so excited about it I know it's going to be a big hit! The model actually bought the dress and the cardigan version off me at the shoot! She wants to be a buyer after she finishes her run at SDSU, so I took it as an extra big compliment! I was also pleasantly surprised to find out we actually knew each other from High School! So cool! I love San Diego! So cool to see the girl I knew grow up into a fierce young lady!

But I digress, back to the design...

I was very much inspired by seeing feathers sewn on to many haute pieces of clothing, and although I loved the look I thought I could create the same affect in a less costly and more practical manner. I experimented in many ways with this new design. Due to the printing process each piece is 100% unique.
I custom blended many of the inks to create an iridecent look with golden and metallic colors. Although it is not visable in the photos the areas where the feathers overlap looks amazing! A beatiful gradient affect is created. You have to see it in person!
The print is featured on both the front and the back of the dress and will also be featured on pima cotton cardigans and blouses.
The dress is now available for just $28!

Please check these new pieces out and keep an eye out for the new look book pictures and even more new amazing designs from Black Heart Bunny!

Cover Me

Myspace friend and awesome artist, Girl Chaos, always posts the funniest things about her life. Sometimes painfully funny. I wonder if she knows I'm an avid reader. Anyway, the other day she posted vids of 3 covers. Can't get over them. so pretty. All are so very moving.

Etsy Does Rodarte for Less

Follow up to my Rodarte post.

This particular pair are reserved for someone but click here and request your own!

($45 plus shipping, other styles available)

"Yarn is black and is a 28% kid mohair, 28% merino wool, and 44% micro nylon blend. "

Buy this sweater here for $375. Support an indie artist and save a few bucks.

"This sweater [is] hand knitted using various yarns like alpaca, mohair, metallic and others."

And for those who live near San Diego, this sweater is made by an artist in Del Mar.

Fabric content is a big deal to me so these two get big points in my book.

As tempting as these babies are I'm still planning an attempt to make my own sweater.

Wish me luck!

Creepy Cool

I love animation and I guess if you haven't been following my twitter, you don't know I went to see Coroline a few days ago, in 3D. It was awesome!

I'm also a big fan of the Quay Bros. and I think they really have a huge influence movies like Coroline, The Corpse Bride, a Nightmare Before Christmas ...

Rent "Phantom Museums" (or look them on youtube) and see for your self. The videos can be a bit hard to watch as they are not as commercial as the films they have influenced, but fascinating none the less. They also did the "Hospital Puppet" sequence in Frida.

Also watch this:

Kind of post Valentine's Day appropriate, right? I don't really care for the song but the imagery is so rad.

Don't Act So Innocent

Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day.

I Love You Golden Blue

(Click On The Pics To Enlarge)

It has been rainy for days and it just cleared up today! The coolest thing I saw was a ring of rainbows around the moon, and the clouds were passing behind the prisms, it looked kind of like the tie dye, only a lot more magical! Today I'm getting ready for the Black Heart Bunny phoot shoot that's going down tomorrow. I'm so glad it cleared up and is sunny again or else we would have had had resecduale. Will post the pics from the shoot as soon I get them. Still waiting for January's photo shoot pics but it takes some time. Also I am working on some new designs today, I'm really excited about the new Black Heart Bunny line and I hope you will love t much as I do!

Pretty Vacent

(Click on any pic to enlarge)

I’ve had these Vivienne Westwood Anglomania for what feels like a fashion eternity, hence they are not straight leg jeans (gasp!) I love them because they have this special treatment that makes the rips and holes black while keeping the rest of the jean this cool gray blue. Worn with Stella McCartney lace pumps. I am wearing a black matte lame bandeau from American under my shirt. Looks great under so many of my tops. Don’t you love it when one little inexpensive thing fixes a multitude of looks!

Speaking of inexpensive I got my jeans for a whooping $30! I paid a little extra to get the altered to my size but I have to do that with almost all my pants. My Stella McCartney shoes were only $100. For me part of the fun of fashion is the challenge getting things for the best possible price.

Are you on chictopia? Please add me as a fav and vote me chic ;)

Vena Cava

Totally in love with this Vena Cava Dress!

Previously blogged about in this post.

Love the neckline, the darts, the colors and the print! I’m also a bit obsessed with exposed zippers. Worn with Sam Edelman booties. Love the architectural heel and peep toe! They look uncomfortable but actually the opposite is true. I got an amazing deal on both of them, so that makes me love the look even more!

Rodarte, Kate Moss and The Sex Pistols

Look familiar?

I know everyone is obsessing about Rodarte. Especially when looking at your sweater collection and realizing nothing seems suitable anymore. For me the collection stirred up a sense of nostalgia, remembering old looks worn by the Sex Pistols and being totally obsessed with Vivienne Westwood and all things rock when I was teen. Punks dead but fashion is forever.

Aquisition

Owning a Missoni piece is must have classic/basic piece.
HOWEVER, now is NOT the time for me to be acquiring new pieces especially when I'm trying to pool all my resources into building the Black Heart Bunny Brand up this year. I succumbed to the price/texture/color/fabric content (Worsted Wool Blend.) They don't call it G(u)ILT for nothing.

EDIT: Just remembered I bought it to possibly use it to style the upcoming shoot i am working on. Guilt slightly assuaged.

Behind The Scene

Behind the scenes of today's photo shoot. Actual photo shoot was with visiting photographer Gabrielle Monroe AKA Delilah Squid. Gabrielle was visiting all the way from Victoria, BC!

Sarah Piel on hair and some posing and Natalie Donna on make-up.

Our model is Vy!

I was supposed to get my hair done in time for the day but that fell through and I couldn't wear my contacts since I lost my last one, so I looked a hot mess. Oh well. Have to work!

It was so great to meet such wonderful and talented people!

Can't wait to see the official photos and to work on the next photo shoot in February with another fantastic photographer. Even MORE NEW designs coming soon!!!
